Improving Guitar and Bass Sims on Boss BR-1180

Hi,

Just wondering if you guys know of any way to improve the quality of the guitar and bass amp sims on the Boss BR-1180? Are there any software downloads or anything like that? Are the any external pieces of equipment that help at all or am I better going with something like a Vox Tonelab LE or similar?

Also, are the COSM models any better on the current generation of DAWs from Boss (BR-900, BR-1200, BR-1600)?

Hey Funkywrench,
If you dont like the 1180 sounds then maybe go for the Vox or a Line 6 POD. I'm not sure what the 1180 was using for it's COSM guitar effects ~possibly the GT5 circuit (the 1200 and 1600 use the GT6 which imo is much better). I'm not aware of any 1180 downloads and PODs are quite cheap these days and produce good results.

If you are using the built in preamps there is a corelation between the gain setting in the simulation and the amount of gain from the preamp.Try different combinations to get your sweet spot.
