Brenda's Boy

This is the final lyric for Brenda's Boy thanks to help from the February Challenge. Click and listen. In the spirit of my old folk singer status (Circa 1975) I pulled out the 12 string Epi and laid this down. One take and no processing. Touch of verb on the vox outside the box. Enjoy and feel free to comment. It's only in raw form at the moment.

Good stuff, it's got some nice chord changes in the song. It's smooth, and the singing/melody flows well. I like the minor chords you've used in the chorus for the "Cry Cry" part.

Tomorrow I will have it up with my other raw tracks stuff at Morehousesongs.com. Then you shouldn't have any trouble but the format isn't as good there.

Very cool! It kind of took me by surprise I guess I was expecting a faster tempo. I really like it. I'm flattered that you took a few of my suggestions. I think Computer and waving the controller both work really well.

I got more of a classic rock vibe from reading the lyrics but the acoustic folk style somehow lends a sadness and erieness to the story that really works.

Thanks for sharing!

Cool

When I read your lyrics originally I totally heard Bruce Springsteen singing it to the melody of "Spirits in the Night".

It really comes across to me as a Springsteen.

I like your writing style, but I think you should make your delivery more direct, with less cadences and stress on certain words.

Then again, I imagined this with Bruce, where he sings likes every line will be his last.

I will change to a wma format at this location so you can play it easier. I design and host websites for artists so I don't post my stuff up anywhere I don't host as a rule. Give me 15 minutes and it will be ready. Thanks for your patience, Dave.

It's amazing that you heard Bruce singing this! This first melody I wrote for the song was so much like 'the boss' that I abandoned it and tried what you heard. I still am playing with the melody and will put some production into the tune when things finally click. I have found that if I hurry a tune I am never happy with the end results.
