880EX and cd burners

I was gonna buy Roland's cd-burner till I heard that I could do the same for much cheaper. What I need is this:

burn music from the 880

backup data from the 880 in 8-track format for later editing

burn cd's from a computer or cd-player

backup computer data

Roland's cd-burner does all these, does anyone know of any cheaper way to go? And would I need any software? Thanks for your help.

Get a plextor cd burner. I have an interanl 4220 and I installed it in an external scsi box. Check out

It took me less than 15 mintues to get it all hooked up and burning cds.
