How's this mix ?

How's my mix on this coming ?

Looking for opinion more so on the actual mix of the song - not so much the song it'self - but all comments are appreciated.

The song is supposed to be a little wierd anyway, as it's supposed to have an apocalyptic old western vibe - but I just want to see where you guys think I could improve the mix.

NOTE : The "A WINDMILL MADE OR IRON" Chorus - is not finished. I intend to have several female voices on it as well, but I am hoping to do that with a plug-in, as I don't know any good female singers.

Here's the song : http://www.effortlessrecords.com/windmill6b.mp3

haha - yeah

I couldn't play the "train beat" so I had to resort to some Midi + Software.

I didn't know any way around that problem - so, pre-programmed train beat is as good as it get's I guess.

not bad. the vox have a bit too much reverb on them i'd say, though you're probably going for that effect. is it supposed to be only 1:50 long?

Hey Nicole,

No, it's about 4:00 minutes - I cut it short to decrease load time.

I struggle with Reverb........

the drums already some on them from the Drum software I used.

The Vocals are using a VST set on PLATE.

I don't really know what I am doing with reverb - but yes, it's somewhat set a little exaggerated for effect.

Wow - thank you.

You've done something - but what ?

It sounds much better.

Is it the kick drum that you've fixed ?

Any chance of making me a 4 minute track of the drums, so I can use it in the entire song?

I'll put your name on the album credit !!!

Hi there,

Thanks for the nice reply !

I programmed the beat with other samples and layerd it over the mix.
First I cut the frequencies of the kick and snare a bit and got rid of some
of the "mud".
cut at 60Hz 180-200Hz and around 300-400Hz a bit and put a compressor over this remix
Thats all !

Dirk

I can PM you an email to send to.

Drums:

www.vaquero-verbal.de/drumloop2.rar kick and snare seperated

its a 4 pattern loop. I made some cues for each pattern so you can easily cut and loop each of them

Hmmmm...

Yep, weird song.
Kinda reminds me of some Frank Zappa stuff.
That V.Verbals mix actually sounded quite nice.
at 01:17 there's some really weird whimpering in my left ear.

Zappa is an influence !

Yeah - the 1:17 stuff is an outtake back ground vocal that somehow found it's way to the mix.

I've got the new drum loop in - and I actually left it overtop the old one just like Dirk had it.

What a difference.

I'll post as soon as I get some more background vocals done.
