New Amp Peavey JSX 212 Recorded on this metal tune...

Hey all. I just got a Peavey JSX 212 after much back and forth about what amp to get. I ended up like the sound and overall quality of the JSX combo. Plus this thing is loud.

Pick Your Head Up (256Kbps MP3)

So what do you think? Does it sound better than the amp modelers and VST plug ins? I A/B it against another song I did with Amplitube 2 and there is something different. To me the amp just sounds like it has more life to it. How about you.

Song Using Amplitube 2 (256Kbps MP3)

Sounds tough enough for me! Good tones.

Thanks. I'm going to add a link to a song using amplitube at the top post to compare.

I think it really comes out when your are palm muting and chugging. I'm going to experiment and turn up the amp a bit more when I record next time. It already was pretty freaking loud when I was recording. The clean channel was shaking stuff off the table lol...

PM me that preset for Amplitube 2 man...nice job.
While the amp.2 sounded good...the jsx seemed to have more balls.

I think I could get amplitube to be a bit more ballsy. I listed to some stuff I did with a POD using their Tripple recto model and a tube screamer and it sounds very similar to the JSX recording.

Now I'm scratching my head. I just payed a pretty high amount for the JSX and the recording of the amp vs the modeler stuff really isn't that much different. I may actually return the amp to Guitar Center because I'm not really playing live right now and it is hard to justify the purchase.

Give it some time... I guess you´ll end up wishing to have a real amp.
Plugins are cool, but there´s nothing like the real thing.

Dude!!!

I listened the first song... really heavy, I was expecting some cookie-monster or screamo vox, and that mellow singing suckerpunched me standing!!!!!!!

After the initial shock it sounded spectacular!.. the shouting after resembling like..suicidal tendencies was a letdown, but the mellow parts really have something in them!!
Nice sound overall!

Kick ass song man... I've been using amplitude (the first one) for a bunch of songs and now a line 6 amp with a built in POD direct and thought I've found some pretty cool affects and convincing sounds... I still gotta say for an amp recording, there just seems to be something better about it. In your case here, I think your top amp link has a bit more definition and raw edge to it over the amplitude version below.... but really, IMO you can't go wrong either way here, listening to both tracks, the difference seems negligible
