V-carcass for a DIY-project..
Hi all!
I've been thinking about a diy-project for a while, there's plenty free time at work, I know a nice lady-friend that is trained in surfaces (restores old furniture and other stuff), I always get a GAS as the stew-mac "catalog" drops in the mail. ![]() ![]() Someone is selling a carcass looking like this: http://serif.pp.fi/muuta/flyingv%20002%5b1%5d.jpg http://serif.pp.fi/muuta/flyingv%20005%5b1%5d.jpg I wonder is it an Epi, or some other korean firewood??!! looks like salvaged from a bonfire. ![]() Is the neck-joint just glued in straight?? ![]() The Big question prolly is; Could THAT be turned into a decent guitar, with good parts?? The looks won't be a big issue, I'm heading into the "steampunk" direction anyhoo... ![]()

Wow.
I once found a broken guitar in a ditch that was in better shape than this. Yeah, I don't know about that neck joint. There's a line there that makes it look like someone sawed the neck off, then glued it back on. If it's _real_ cheap, then sure, but it appears the only thing you're saving yourself from (over starting with unshaped wood) is the fret work and a little bit of routing. The case looks pretty nice, but I don't think I'd pay very much for this.

That thing looks pretty grim. Don't waste your money.

I think it'd be easier to drill some holes into it and make it into a animal habitat.
Have some little lizards and snakes live in it. Looks scary. Don't pay more than 20$. |
