Hey,
Anyone wanna check out this song? It's called It All Comes Down To The Trip Your On. Sort of Beatley. Recorded at home, did everything myself (for better or worse). Please tell me what you think, the song, production, recording, etc., good, bad, or whatever.

Thanks a lot,

I added a RealPlayer version so you don't have to download the whole mp3. Sound quality is shittier, but just trying to get people to listen (please)!

Royston is an unknown quantity at this point
Macle,

Excellent production, really professional sounding and a good song to boot, if a tad too poppy for my tastes.

Thanks! It is a bit poppy. Turned out more poppy than I thought it would. I was trying to get the chorus to be more heavy, in contrast to the verse, but I was using the POD on the guitars, and I found it to be, ummm, well I wished I had used a real amp, I think that would have been better in the chorus. I couldn't get the heavier POD guitars happening (there in there, but I'm not sure you can here them.) I tend to put too much stuff in, in general, though, and that, I suppose, takes away from the heaviness, too. But anyway, I like poppy stuff, so that's okay.

Thanks very much!!

macle

The production is very nice. A very well balanced mix.

I thought a couple things could use some improvement.

The bass could have been a lot more "round" sounding, like the old Paul McCartney sound.

The vocals were a bit "crowded". Sounds like a Harmonizer effect for the harmonies. While these types of devices will give you excellent intonation, they seldom make it sound "real". Get some girlies in the studio to do those high parts for ya! Other benefits would apply, and I will leave you to figure THAT out...

Other then that, cool song, and thanks for sharing it.

Ed
Thanks very much! I did have the bass EQ'd and compressed more, but I took it off, cuz I thought maybe I was clouding up the mix, but maybe I should put that back on. The funny part about the girlies, is, that IS a real girlie (my girlfriend)! I triple tracked the chorus vocal and some of the harmonies, and I think you're right, it's too much. Takes away the character. I'm definately gonna try remixing that.

Thanks again,
macle
