Song.

Do y'all have any tips on writing a song? It is really hard for me. I can come up with tune easy, but then can't think of a good lyric to fit.

Try it the other way around. Write some words that can flow with a beat and then sing them to a melody.

Another tactic is to take your words and edit them to fit another song you like from your favorite artist. Then take it someplace new.

If you are are stuck just writing lyrics then look at other people's material for inspiration. See my post here where I got inspired by somebody's work and wrote my own thing on the topic.

Then I suggest reading some poetry or books by your favorite author. I always find this instructive. Movies can also work as a source of inspiration.

Somnium is giving great advise here. Hit your weak spot first and then do what comes easier.

This
is a great workbook type resource for writing lyrics. It has useful exercises and requires you to actually write rather than just telling you how to do it. Each chapter describes a type of poetry, shows good examples of the type, and then prompts you to write some of your own. It has been helpful to me but may not work for everyone. Good luck with your writing.

write what you know. write about things you've experienced. things that have touched you. if you try to write about things you've never done or experienced it won't sound plausible or ring true.

I know that, bnut what I mean is, I will come up with this great song out of my head, and that is how I get the tune. Then, I can't find words to fit. It is not like I try doing the tune first. Thanks for the links.

here's another tip. expand your word power till you die. every day learn a new word or two. learn what they mean, look up their synonyms and antonymos, that's one way to begin to write well.
