Noob Intro, I'm a recording dunce!

Well, not really, but I see I am not anywhere near as serious about this as I ought to be...

Who I am: Lifelong machinist, escaped from Finger Lakes, NY area.
I am in my mid 40's, and have been noodling on guitars since I was 11-12 years old. 90% electric, rock, blues, old metal, and a bit of everything else.
I now live in South Carolina, with my SW and two sons, working at a small steel mill.

Recording gear: Not much.
I started with an Akai 7" Reel, no idea what model it was, but it had
tubes. I also used it as a guitar amp. It sounded great, but ended up being given away at a garage sale in my absence.

My next was another Akai, similar, but solid state. It served many years, and is now in the attic. Too many mechanical issues to keep running reliably.

Right now I have a 2gig speed pc, built in audio, an addon PCI soundcard,
and use N-Track 4.0 for multitracking.

Ensoniq SD-1/32 synth workstation. Hooked up analog, not using external Midi gear. I never got the hang of midi, I work everything in analog to the PC.

Sanyo 4 head hi-fi VCR.
6 channel, and a 4 channel RMS mixers
7 band stereo EQ
'67 Fender Deluxe Reverb amp, with a homebuilt line out box.
Various stomp box effects
Peavey Studio Chorus 210 amp. Stereo outs and effects loop.

Guitars: Charvel Model 88, Hamer Phantom A5, Kramer ST300,
Homebuilt BC Rich Mini-Bich, Ibanez RB10, Ibanez steel string acoustic.

Looking forward to hanging out and learning how to utilize this
strange mix of gear to make something halfway useful.

This place is huge...
Too much to try to find answers by searching.
Even clicking "new posts" gets a bit overwhelming!

But, that's a compliment to the board's success!
Glad to have found it.
