Cakewalk vs Protools

I have access to both via a friend who was getting into the business but changed his mind but I'm not sure which one to go with. Is there any strong pro's or cons to going with either one?

Better question. What are your intentions? What do you want to do with the software, that may better tell you which is more suited to you.
