Allright, I called Cakewalk today to get a shipping/tracking number, and theres not one... why? Because they haven't shipped it yet. This is getting irritating. I've read the read-me files that someone posted on here when they recieved thiers, but I'm ready for more reading. Does anyone have a way to upload pretty much ANY part of the manual or the tutorial or whatever, anything, that I can read and learn a little while I wait and wait and wait.... They should really post a pdf file for the manual on the Cakewalk site.
When you ship on the 29th, doesnt that MEAN the 29th? I must be from a different school.... I guess you misunderstand things when you grow up in Ky....

misinterpreting demand

it's got nothing to do with KY. it's got everything to do with supply-n-demand being misinterpreted.

If cakewalk published the manual on their website no one would have any need to buy the program. With all the warez sites out there the only thing that keeps them in business is the manual.

That seems like a silly reason. There is at least one thorough third-party book that you can buy anywhere, and Cakewalk supported the writing of it, and sell it on their own website too. Not to mention that it's well-known to anyone that has looked at both that the Help system is pretty much equivalent to the manual.

Not to mention....

Not to mention the fact that in much of Cakewalk's literature for past products they have purported to have no need for protection schemes because they trust their users. I have read that in a couple different Cakewalk publishes texts.
It's commendable, I think. People can steal anything they want one way or another. CW should do all they can for its honest customers.
As far as the supply/ demand thing, CW should have had a pretty good estimate of the quantity they would need come March 29. That's the whole point of advance orders, isn't it?
I haven't ordered mine yet, and I will probably wait for a good while before doing so. Just don't want the hassle.

well the book Cakewalk Power (i assume this is the third party book you are talking about) is more of an extension to the manual, it skips the basics. One of my friends who got a bootleg attempted to use it as a manual (i refused to let him use mine) and it didn't work. But you are right, i just looked at the help system and it does pretty much miror the manual so i guess there is no reason they cant put the manual on the web.
