Hi All, I'm running Sonar 7, attempting to continue work on a song with 4 audio tracks and 2 soft synths. I've never had any problems with this songfile before, until today. This and two of my other songs (similar instrumentation) are now unplayable. When I hit play (or record), the Audio Engine automatically stops, without playing a sound. I can mess around with the soft synths BEFORE hitting play, but once I hit play/record, everything is rendered useless and I can't get any sound from anywhere. I've checked latency issues and messed around with my audio drivers, but nothing's working. I'm currently using the M-Audio Black Box USB interface and a MIDI-USB Cable for my soft synths. Any ideas? It's only 3 of my songs that are now oddly broken, and this just started happening today.
Thanks in advance! |

Any chance you did some editing just prior to this problem? I've had some pretty weird stuff like that happening in older versions as well. On occasion I had removed busses which still had sends assigned to them and all sorts of strange stuff would happen. In the end it was recommended to me by Cakewalk to create a new project and copy the original audio clips into the new project.
Might be worth a shot.

I can't help you but I have a similar problem since upgrading to Sonar 7 Producer.
I keep getting drop outs with anything digital running such as a guitar processor using SPDIF. I was thinking at first the problem was due to some tracks having been created with v. 6 but the problem occurs even on brand new projects. I downloaded the newest updates for sonar to no avail. You didn't state what OS your using I'm running XP64 which is no longer supported in V. 7. I have no fire walls, anti virus, on this system and also keep the nic disabled which allowed me to run v.6 with out a hitch but v. 7 seems to have a lot of bugs still not fixed. |

Yes, I'm also running XP64., which could be the problem. I haven't had any such issues with Sonar 6, but I suppose it might be an incompatibility issue. I guess I'm going to have to copy the audio files into a new song -- that shouldn't take too long..

export the tracks one at a time to new file then into new project

For what it's worth, there's a new (second) maintenance update to Version 7. It might be worth loading simply because of the issues resolved.

Sonitus:fx plug-ins were causing the problem. The audio engine appeared to overload when certain effects were layered (running 3 instances of sonitus reverb). I'm not sure why this just randomly started to occur, but it doesn't occur with other songfiles. Problem solved!
