USB vs Firewire External Drives
I am going to be getting an external hard drive as i have started to do some recording at home. I have read and been told that firewire is better but i'll most likely only be recording 1 track at a time for a while. So how much of a difference would the firewire make for me?

better stick with firewire. it's just better for consistency in streaming data. you may only be recording one track at a time, but that doesn't take into account that you will also likely be playing back many other tracks as well.

Stick with firewire - I bought a USB external w/ a 7200 rpm drive inside, and when I set Cubase to point to it, even one or two tracks don't function properly. Just my experience, but since the difference is usually 10-20 bucks b/w a USB drive and its firewire/firewire+USB counterpart, I'd just go with FW to be safe. I actually meant to buy a firewire myself, but had accidentally purchased the USB-only drive
