Dragon. He's been asking for years! Since i got here at least!

I'm sure he PM'd you many many times, and posted many many threads. All asking you to allow stickies. They started friendly and gradually he became more and more annoyed.

This is the worst I've ever seen Rick, so he obviously had had enough of seeing the same question(probably about egg crates), and asked you again to allow stickies and felt completely ignored.

Why don't you create a new email address specifically for this forum(maybe with hotmail) and that'd free you from your spam and allow you to answer queries.

Now about my application. Will you be taking on any admin?

hotmail is horrible for spam... I tried an experiment once and made a new hotmail address, gave it to nobody, sent no messages, etc. Just logged in to it every so often to make sure it wasn't deleted...surely, a few months went by and it was getting a fair share of spam... go with gmail or something like that, never had much in the way of spam there.

Regardless of how self-justified Dragon's long term hiatus was, the fact is that during that time, this site lost both good moderators and quite a number of very knowledgeable people, people who are unlikely to be replaced in the foreseeable future. The other unfortunate result was the loss of the good reputation/credibility this site once had around the www forums...........a fair proportion of the cause of that was the Mic forum, in particular, this shitfights that developed around DJL and to some degree Chessrock............I know that I, along with others had attempted on a number of occassions to contact Dragon about this issue and last I heard, no-one ever received a reply.

Unfortunately, a site's popularity (read: number of members, site visit stats, etc.) is no real indication of the quality of the membership or admin.



BTW...........David, regardless of what "excuses" you make, what you think, delete, edit, etc., Rick did not become a jerk, he just became totally fed up with your apparent lack of interest in this site. If I'd been in his shoes, my message would not have been so "abusive" BUT it would have been just as strong.

I'll go out on a limb here...but just watching this site over the last couple years, Rick seemed to be NOT a jerk, but someone with a passion for the business, and who was willing to help others.

Yes, he may have gone over the line with his last rage,,,,but,,,,how many of us have never gotten really pissed off over the feeling that we were hitting a brick wall when trying to improve on something?? In this case "the stickies" idea, was in fact a good idea, and since it was being ignored, that just allowed for continued redundant questions about the same old thing over and over again. That would suck if I were Rick, and trying to answer them and help people out as best I could.

As I see it, Rick made his case,,,Dragon acknowledged the need to the stickies, and also said why maybe those requests were ignored/not seen, and others have pointed out that they feel this request has only been ignored in the past as well......so why dont we just fix the issue at hand, and move on.

Lets quit judging each other, and lets quit bitching and complaining!!!

I also belong to another forum which some of the admin/moderators on it seem to think there shit doesnt stink when it comes to answering certain questions...or...if you dont seem to "qualify" to them as worthwhile as someone to give the time of day to...they just blow you off. I have since stopped posting on that site for that reason. Dont make this site as bed!

Least in here,,,everyone (in most cases) seems down to earth and willing to help. The playing field seems to be pretty level for all, most of the time.

Rick helped make it that way,,,and in my opinion, the admins (Dragon if thats you) needs to contact Rick and apologize for maybe ignoring or not seeing the "stickies request", and be done with it. I am sure Rick also will/should apologize for his outburst and comments as well.

Overall...being the adult men and women we are supposed to be, we can put this whole thing in the past and behind us. AND,,,,in the long run, pending the proper changes are made (with the stickies etc) this site will only improve.

Its a good site that has not gotten out of hand, or gone to the "gods of the industry" ,,,yet. Lets keep it that way.

Rick,,,get back here,,,,lets resolve this...and lets move on! Life is too short!

To have knowledge is one thing....but to share the knowledge you have is the progression that advances us all and makes him the real "PRO".

I'd say with an outburst like that hiding under the surface ready to burst out over something ,in the big scheme of things, so insignificant...that would be a fairly standard prognosis. But I guess unorthodox methods are usually the ones that get noticed when trying to make a change somewhere. A hunger strike or self immollation would have earned a bit more respect though.

I missed the outburst you speak of i am just going off of his contributions in the past. I have had outburst in here (and so have many other people in this forum). we are all human. I cannot imagine his outburst was any worse than other peoples or any of the threads in the cave thou. Unless he siad he was going to "kill someone" it is pretty on par with the daily cave activities (which is probably where this thread belongs).

Whether or not there are stickies isn't a big deal. Neither was Fitz's drama-post complaining about it.

Seems that most of those with an edgy style are gone. Too bad because they helped keep a lot of the real dysfunctional stuff (* see below) that happens around here in check.

I've been with hotmail for years, and yes i do get the occasional spam, but it's mostly from sites I've signed upto, or whatever. I get a few per week, but it's not loads.
