electronic drums don't match up via midi

I got a cheap 400 electronic drum set that has a ION idmo2 module on it. I recently tried running it into my computer to send the midi notes into Addictive Drums. My though being that besides the pads not feeling very good I can play it like a real kit and get pretty good drum sounds for recording via midi. Well it didn't work out. when i play my kick it triggers a high hat and when i play my snare it triggers a kick. so obviousl something doesn't match up as far as the midi mapping is concerned? How can I fix this? The ION module has virtually no options as far as Midi goes only midi channels and a couple other useless options.

Can you simply re route the wires from the pads to the input that gives you the sound you need?

i thought about that but that would mean my snare would be hooked to my kick pedal input and i also need the hihat pedal to function correctly in terms of closed and open and i
m not sure if that will work right.

Doesn't the Ion set use a rebadged Alesis sr16 drum machine as it's brain? (mmmmm brains). If that's the case, I'd search for info on remapping SR16 sounds internally. I'd start somewhere like on this page: http://www.ionet.net/~tslade/sr16.htm

Basically your options are 1) remap the sounds internally on the SR16. 2) your sequencer / host program may itself have a drum remapping feature that allows you to remap the sounds going to addictive drums. Option 1) may be the simpler way, especially if you want to combine patterns mapped to a gm soundset from other sources (midi files, jamstix) along with your own drumming.

I solve this in Sonar with the midi transpose plugin, it lets you map the drums to new note values. Your drumkit manual should tell you what the current note assignments are, and the Addictive Drums PDF has a page with the target note values. Other programs such as Reaper also have some kind of MIDI transpose plugins..
