Rcording with Yamaha DTXPRESS III

Hi folks, this past summer I bought a Yamaha DTXPRESS III not knowing that the "special" version even existed, had I known I definitely would have spent the extra cash on the "special". I've always loved listening to the drums in my favourite tunes but had never even hit one before purchasing this kit.

I'm coming along, I should take lessons but I haven't, and I have written a ton of songs that I want to start putting together on the crap recording program I bought for my PC. I've been playing guitar and bass for many years and know how to record that stuff without any problem, but how do I plug this kit into my computer to get my recording program to recognize it? Do I need a particular program or should you be able to plug this kit in and record with any program? I use a really old, really basic version of "Magix", but it does what I want it to do and I understand it.

What do I need in terms of cables? I'm really excited to get started, I lost my manuals in a move this fall, I've emailed Yamaha for help but haven't heard anything yet...

How do I do this? (i'm not real tech-y so go easy on me).

Thanks!

if you just want to record them, hook them up with the L/R out using a pair of 1/4 cables, and treat it as a stereo track.
