Lightbulb

Hi, heres my set up (i may of mentioned it before but...) and the problem is that when i play midi back I cant hear anything (because I dont know where to put my Midi out plug to!) hehe....

Yamaha Midi Keyboard (with midi in & out)
midi out =======> midi in on Sampler

Emu Esi 2000
Midi out =======> midi in on Sound card
Audio Out ======> Spirit Folio F16 mixer

Midi Man Audiophile (has no midi sounds on it, just an audio card)-----but i dont know where to put the midi out on this to??? it cant go in my sampler input cos the keyboard is going into it?? Does it go into my keyboard?

I can record midi fine, but just no playback

thanks

The computers MIDI out to your keyboard is one idea, but it will create a loop. (The MIDI in of the keyboard will be forwarded to its output.) So, if ou go that way, you must make sure tht the MIDI thru of your computer is switched off. (The computer doesn't forward the incoming messages, only uses the output for it's own MIDI out)

The way I would do it, is just rearrange the chain.
MIDI keyboard (out)->(in)computer(out)->(in)sampler
This way, you should have the midi thru put on. If your soundcard is ok for MIDI (alot of cheap soundcards have even cheaper MIDI implementations...), this is the way to go I think...

Just search the menu's... I have no idea. Somewhere in the MIDI settings, or configuration menu. Probably a checkbox, but it normally is pretty clear. Or look in the help. Just play around with the software. That's the way to learn it. And don't be affraid to use the help. Sometimes it's really usefull... Mostly not, but this is typically something that would be in it.
