Desk Design Question

Hi there, another silly question from me...

I'm building a studio desk because I can't find one that has all the specifications that I want. Basically, I'm designing a desk that has everything right in front of me, without having to turn: 88-key MIDI keyboard, QWERTY keyboard, control surface, etc.

Anyway, I have a question about design and if it will affect the acoustics negatively. I've attached a really crappy diagram so you can see what I'm talking about. I'm trying to decide if I should make the rack at a 90-degree angle, or at <45-degree angle, and trying to determine how (if at all) it will affect sound projection, etc.

The 90-degree setup would make it easy to read everything on the rack gear and would be easy to reach everything, but its pretty ugly in my opinion. The 30-ish-degree setup would look hell of a lot better, but might make reading rack gear and reach slightly more difficult.

Anyway, just seeing what you guys have to say about how one, or the other, design might be better acoustically.

Thanks!

version 2 with the slope is better. less refraction. put the monitors on stands behind the console not on it.

Cool, thanks, my next question was actually about monitor placement.

How about the rack at an 80-degree angle? Or basically is the rule of thumb that flatter I make it and less "unobtrusive" the better.

Thanks!

Actually, one last design question...

Would it be better to have my racks in a straight line, or the center one facing center at me, and the side ones turned at an angle to face me. I've attached a picture again.

Again, I'm curious if one design would be better than another acoustically.

Thanks!

I built maself this one last year with wery basic DIY knowledge....

It does the intended job, it's just MDF

There's another rack on the right side holding the 4U computer case and the DAT recorder, Minidisk & tape deck. Still room for one on the front left if I aquire more gear and still sit comfortably with my legs in between
