VSR 880 for $395 barely used ,,, good deal?

It looks like it'd be a great location recorder. Small ...... easy to take to gigs.

Anyone have an opinion on the unit or the price?

I used to own a VSR-880 and had it in a rack in my home studio. It was a great 8 track hard disk recorder but, you can find them for half that price.

They are a bit dated and cumbersome to record a band with ie; 8 track input is hard to record. If I recall, there's only two mic inputs. Best used with 8 line outs from your board.

I recorded our band with room mics for about two hours which ended up as one song. You can break that up with another recording deck. I turned the power off and lost everything....you must hit 'save' (my bad). Now I record with the Alesis HD24....sweet machine.

Good luck.
