Roland Jx-3p synth

Hello!
Does anybody know if it is mandatory to have the pg-200 programmer to be able to make sequences on the Roland jx-3p? If not how do you sequence on this synth? I've been going mad trying to figure it out. All I get is drone of the first not in the sequence.
Thanks in advance!!

The PG200 is only to edit the sounds. The manual is available on the rolandus website for free so check there for how to use the seq
