best action on a midi controller?

I'm trying to look into buying a midi controller with great hammer action. I currently have a prokeys 88 but have realized I don't like the action much at all.

I am NOT looking for a fancy keyboard in terms of features or onboard sounds. I want an 88 key midi controller with great action. Nothing else matters to me. I don't plan on using any onboard sounds, or using it live or anything like that.

Any suggestions?

Studiologic = Fatar = quality with continuity = always a good choice.

Some series in 90's had certain longevity issues/problems, but nevertheless, Fatar remains solid and reliable choice with already proven Fatar refinements.

So I went to GC a few days ago, and tried out pretty much all the keyboards, from the cheapie $99 dollar ones up to one of those $8,000 Oasys keyboards.

Suprisingly, out of all the keyboards, the absolute best action I found was in the Casio Privia series! I didn't know Casio made decent equipment! Not only were the Privias decent, I found them amazing. I just got the px-700 for
$499, they're usually around 800 bucks. the px-700 is also the sexiest midi controller/digital piano I've ever seen. I can't stop staring at it with a twinkle of lust in my eye. I know that action is very subjective of course, but found the privias action to be the most expressive. Even though I don't really care about onboard sounds, I must say, the piano sounds were actually not half bad, waaaaaaay better than my prokeys 88, whos piano sounds are laughable.

I have the prokey 88 also, and against good advice, I bought it anyway, pretty disappointed with the action on it.

same here, couldn't live with it's sucky action a minute longer.

On the upside though, the prokeys 88 has a great Rhodes sound, and string sound. I haven't been able to find a better string sound on any keyboard, it's quite unique.

yeah i have a cheaper privia px110 and i pretty much just use it to control soft synths. for the price it has a very decent, graded action.

yeah I can't believe the action is so good for such a low price.
The problem I think with so many keyboards action is that manufacturers think "heavy" action equals realistic action, so they make the keys simply heavy, which usually equals spongy, jerky action. Like the prokeys. They're heavy for the first moment, but once you push the key past a certain threshold they shoot down quickly and easily. The privias action is smooth and real.
