Good Marketing needs Good Feedback

we R trying to decide which songs should be performed on our 3 song set
and maybe even which 1 of the three we should do a video for . . .

please give us some feedback on this

--plz dont think this is a b.s. way to get "listens" or "plays" - i am really seeking legitimate feedback for the next stage of my campaign to generate buzz and market this project that we have been working on . . .

Only had a minute, since its the holiday

I don't listen to Hip-Hop much (the only artists I can think of are the Black-Eyed Peas and Saul Williams) and didn't have too much time to listen. That said:

I would make Baby Phat the video song, and find a nice-looking girl to dance through most of it. I could see it becoming that song that prompt those conversations: "Oh! That girl with the hottie!?" "YEAH!"

I would not include Check My Swagga in the 3 song set, it just did not grab me like the others did. I would include Baby Phat, if that were your video song, because you want the single/heavily promoted song to be in there. I like Call It Quits best. Between the last two its a toss up. I like Walking thru the Valley better. But, Saggin' would make a better start to the set, since it introduces the group name in the beginning, thus helping recognition. I'll try to listen to the songs more deeply when I get a chance, but the family is arriving for Xmas dinner.

Hope this helps, Happy Holidays.

I like Fresh Outta the Shop (sounds very professional).

I wasn't too into Baby Phat, but that's only because I felt like it needed more background sound (maybe guitar if you dare---but deeper, more sustaining bass would be best in my opinion).

Saggin is pretty good. It's catchy. IS that distortion intentional? It's a groovy beat.

I think you should re-record all your vocals. Rewrite your lyrics to glorify God.

Of course, that's just my opinion.

Yeah, well, singing about "bling" can't really be taken seriously by most people.

When you sing about cars and money and gold, you're pretty much doing the same thing others have done before.

I'm not saying spiritual music is original, but at least it fills a permanent purpose.

Cars rust.

All irrefutable points, and I mean no disrespect for your point of view or your spiritual leaning. But that line....Rewrite your lyrics to glorify god, strikes me as pretentious, condescending and potentially self alienating. It is the very attitude that convinced me to think seriously about my christian upbringing and ultimately reject it . But with no personal disrespect for you , that is my opinion.

ILOVEJESUS: "Rewrite your lyrics to glorify God."

Bling singing holds no real attraction for me but priase rap would hold even less.
Praise metal, praise pop, praise US idol; you have to be careful when you try to unnaturally graft such specific lyrics to a musical form.

Baby Phat would require more than a vid of a live performance due to the title, Saggin'd be my vote.

Yeah, 'cause singing about God is a hell of a lot more original. I mean, people've only been doing it since, oh I don't know, some time BEFORE CHRIST...
