Christmas Eve Dreams

Well, it's almost Christmas so here's a Christmas tune.

It's written as a duet for a boy and girl (but I had no girl to sing that part). It turned out a little more Pop than Rock. I think it might be suited for musical theatre - maybe a 50's R&R Christmas show.

Anyway, let me know what you think of the song, mix, etc...

Thanks and Merry Christmas !

You should get Meatloaf to sing this.

Very catchy, as usual. Nice solo, very tasty. Could use some doo-wop girls in the background.

Thanks David I appreciate the listen and the comments.

It's too light for Meatloaf IMO after comparing some of his stuff. It would need more of a rockin' punch to it and more starts and stops (like your overture has for example).

Regarding the solo - I'm having trouble with my solo tone since I had my amp retubed/repaired (refer to my old thread in the guitar forum for details). I first noticed it when working on RayC's "After the Burning". I was surprised how tubes/caps affect your tone. This song has a tone I really liked for lead and I'm trying to recreate it or find something similar.

Thanks Again!

Nice sound. The song is pretyy cool. The drums sound cool. But the snare is sounding a little high for the kind of music.

The girl shouldn't be a problem. Can't you twist the Mrs.'s arm?

I don't think it sounds bad at all with just your voice...you did a nice job man. It's just a very clean tune...straight up. I agree with the snare.....if you could lower it in volume a bit, or eq some of the snap....it does stick out a bit. The rest is pretty even sounding, and well performed.

I really like the guitars in this. Voice sounds great as always man, i'm a long time fan of your vocals now. Bass sticks through nice on my headphones which is saying something. I didn't mind the lead tone at all and thought it suited the song well. If you get the female vox part in i'd be interested in hearing how that turns out, i'm sure it'd be cool. No complaints, sounded great on my headphones here will surely listen in the morning on monitors.

Take care

Gary

Sounds pretty good to me Ido. Everything sits nice. Good guitar sounds. Only thing I can think of is to maybe add some jingle-bells in there somewhere.

Thanks Gary - I'm thinking the key is too low for a girl, it should probably be up a couple of steps - somewhere in the middle might work for both guy and girl. Means a whole redo of everything except the drums...

Thanks Greg - I'll have to look in the patches on my Yamaha Keyboard for jingle bells - the tubular bells are absolutely horrid though....sound like wooden blocks....

Sounds great to me. Fun song, love the clean guitars. Drums are solid, man. If it wasn't for the cymbals, it would be hard to tell if it's a machine or not. Your voice sounds great as usual. I'm digging the solo, too.

Thanks RAMI - appreciate the listen and the kind words. The drums are played through my Yamaha Keyboard which has pretty decent tone. I'm still working on rebuilding that solo sound since my re-tube......

This works for me just fine. Good job. I agree with the other comments about the snare...easy fix though. I can also hear some random high vocal harmonies sprinkled throughout. The ending cuts off kind of abruptly but again, another easy fix...or was that just a Soundclick glitch?? Merry Christmas.
