Mackie 2408 (used) vs. Behringer MX9000.. need help

Im looking at buying a Behringer MX9000 new...

I've been shopping for a while, and this board, by design, is exactly what I want.. and I've had 100% good luck with my other (but) less costly Behringer gear...

theres a local sound guy thats well respected who swears the smaller eurodesk (3242) is the industries bes kept secret... but then there are others who say behringer is not as road worthy..

anyway, I just found a used Mackie 2408 that is mint, and I can get for 1000 with a stand (not meter bridge) and upon researching it, it looks like the Berry MX8000 was cloned from the mackie, and that maybe they just changed the look for the MX9000 to make it less obvious...

Has any one had any experience with either or both and could comment?

I can get a new mx9000 for about 1,000 on ebay, plus freight and import fees (im in canada) or this 1998 Mackie 2408 for 1000 even, and I'm "torn" as to which way to go...

I have tried the mackie, and it's a great mixer. I haven't tried the MX9000 but I did some research online and I have only heard great comments about it (at least about their latest, post mackie sue, edition).
I would probably go for the behringer, especially if the mackie doesn't have a meter bridge.

The Mackie is a good board. I've used a 2408 a few times and it's performance was acceptable. The eq's aren't as responsive as I'd like, but I'm used to mixing on a Midas Venice.

The meter bridge is eye-candy. You can solo a channel and get a visual from the regular LED ladder.

That era Mackie's had some issues with internal ribbon cables linking sub and/or aux groups. Confirm that all groups and auxes function properly and you should be alright. The fix is rather easy should you need it.

I would take the 2408 over the Behringer every time.

And make sure you don't skimp on a good road case!
