Maybe this'll break the duck...

Firefly, an upbeat indie rockish tune. Comprises electric rhythm with some chorus in places, pretty cool bass line (unforunately recorded with the same electric guitar as for the rhythm!) which I've eq'ed to attempt to make it more authentic.

Drums are Cubase's own yet again, as such they don't sound like drums but give the feel, I think the compression has given them a weird dance sound or something.

The bridge has an extra distorted guitar layer which increases in pitch as it ends, using a zoom effects pedal.

Listen out for the impromtu solo at the end, provided by my wee brother (multi-talented!) which adds a nice finishing touch.

I've added echo to the vocals, with a more extreme effect layered on the chorus (using the same zoom player 2100), both mainly in an attempt to hide the fact that the micophone's not ideal and I don't have a clue how best to eq/compress vocals properly (any tips?). I think it also makes my voice sound better!

Thanks

Thumbs up

"Fire Fly will Fly away wiiiiitttthhhh meeeeee"!!
Nice chordal changes, the kick needs a lil more boosting
along with a lil more bass definition . The rhythm gits are recorded too out in front overwhelming the vocals a bit too much, but the vocals are excellent (just cut back on the echo)!Overall, I liked the song a lot and you do have a beatle/radiohead thing going on.
Very good song and recording!

The canned drums really take away from the song. If you can find nicer drum sounds that would really assist your song. Besides that, i feel the guitars are either buried in a wash, and at the end the solo-ish sounds lack a beefy mid range. besides that i liek the feel of the song.

I agree with the "more bass and less rhythm" schools of thought. Also, the vocal sounds kind of distorted to me, not real clean. Good tune. Drums need some low end, especially kick.

Thanks everyone, comments being taken into account. I think I might re-mix/master it. Maybe be better to wait till I do it with the band though, the computerised drums are definitely cack!
