Highsteel is on a distinguished road
I need a quick opinion on a Roland TD20S-BK - V-Pro TD20 Kit

I have to decide whether to but this Roland TD20S-BK - V-Pro TD20 Kit at way less than retail and just need to know they're a good kit as its way more than I was planning on spending.

Also are they good to record with.

Td-20

Hi,

I don't know if it's still this, but I got a TD-20 about 3 years ago, and at the time it was the best that Roland offered. The samples in it are all very very good, they sound natural, and can be adjusted or tweaked all over the place...F'rinstance, let's say you like the brass 12" tom, but you'd like it have more presence and resonance, and also like it to be deeper. Well, you hit the trigger you have it set on, the punch the instrument button. You then change the size of the tom to something larger. You can also increase the shell depth, then you go to effects and change the room to the largest possible room. You can then go to the effects and chain up some reverb and compression, etc., etc. and etc.

The TD-20 brain has more controls on it than a japanese VCR, and it has a great sound on recordings.

The V-drum pads are good, I tend to wear out bass-drum pads on it, and wish maybe I'd bought a regular "rubber" type pad for my bass drum, but apart from that, I am pretty satisfied with it.

One thing you will find: if you are a little sloppy with your technique, this thing will force you to clean up. Otherwise it's smart and sensitive enough to catch and capture every little snafu.

I'd definitely buy the TD-20 brain again. It gives a dimension to my recording work that I'd never have working with just an acoustic set alone, and I haven't even scratched the surface of all the programming that can be done with it.
