New to recording
Looking for a good recording set up, but not looking to spend more then about $4000, keep in mind this price would have to include a computer. Any help on what equipment i should get would be appriciated

Start with a MINIMUM of equipment. The FIRST thing I would do personally, is treat the recording space with absorption. Use a quarter of your budget to treat the room. The reason being, it wouldn't matter if you had $100k in equipment. Untill you understant the ROOM colors the recording, and then lies to you again when you mix, it doesn't matter what equipment you have, you will scratch your head over and over when the recording doesn't translate to other systems. THAT is the point my friend. If you start with a good room from the beginning, you will HEAR the truth. No matter what you do without treatment...you won't hear it truthfully. THAT is the truth.

Well I have a rather large basement which will be finished to fit the needs of recording, so space is not an issue, and as far as the finishing goes, money wont be a problem either, the $4000 i mentioned earlier is just for equipment. I dont have the exact demensions of the basement onhand, but if they are needed, i can get them
