LDCs in an XY pattern?
I'm curious as to how everyone here has used their LDCs as stereo pairs, specifically with drum overheads. That's what got me thinking "how would an XY pattern work?". Is it the same way as with SDCs but chunkier and more awkward looking? Does anyone have a picture of their stereo LDC setup?

One microphone usually comes from the front, and the other from the back. The top of the microphones almost touch, and they are turned in opposite directions (to get a stereo picture). Bi-directional microphones are used in this way to achieve a Blumlein pair. |
