Cool guys! I have to find a photographer that knows how to take pictures of prints. If anyone can help me find a tutorial on how to take a picture of something to big to scan lmk.

Mine are all-digital... at present I'm not sure there's enough interest to merit a run of CDs. For short runs, e.g. for friends and family, the covers print out really nicely on an HP colour laser and I provide the cover/booklet with the downloads as a PDF file for people to make their own.

The first cover was my own apart from the cat - the original image is 2048x2048, as is the second cover, which I commissioned from someone. For the centaur, I commissioned another artist (who is now doing the fourth). He actually did it at 4096x4096. I have the original PSD file, which is over 200MB and contains about 35 layers.

don't use the flash...use good lighting...tripod so it doesn't blur.

I'll either use this self-portrait or work this into something.



It was just a digital image of me that I ran through some tweaking photoshop type program that came with my computer.

There're some really interesting ideas and completed pieces so far. I'm impressed. It's an intensley personal process for something that becomes so public. All the symbolism of colour, image etc.
I'd appreciate some comments on mine and can offer the following if wanted...

Cello Puddin - I like your idea - particularly that it's not quite centred L - R. That works really well - is it your own work? The only change I'd play about with as an experiment is the possibility that the black line be a continuous line drawing just to take it that step further. The colours, particularly the halo effect, work very well too. Class job. The really difficult next step would be to find a print or hand style to go with it.
Danny, yours has hit the ether?
Terra, I like you clock face - it's a good contrast for the font & the sepia/green is a good choice too.
ethos, I like the image, tones & positioning but I think there may be too many fonts.
Somnium7, I remember yours from a previous thread - wasn't it coloured then? Then as now I thought the 7 wasn't distinctive enough & let down the rest of the excellent work.
Dirty P - I like the stax brix except for you logo on it. The blue travelling up the windows is great. Your logo seems a) too big and b) out of character - if it were the only text it'd've worked but it's too contrasting in complication, colour and styles against the stark white on black text theme you used all the way to the PA sticker.
I can't see Guitarer's too well - the only thing that stands out is the odd spacing of letters but the contrast of vertical and double horizontal work really well.
ILJ, yours is obvioulsy in the works as it's almost centred etc but presently it looks too close to Brian Eno to do you justice.
JPM, I like your 1st & original. I'm impressed that you've commissioned work - I LOVE anime/hentai styles - the Doug the Eagle font/style appears to be a common thread. It's good to have that across a series. Well done!
