Shure SM81

Got my Naiant MSH-1's, and they outperform this guy on all my acoustics. As such, since I am putting as much cash as possible toward moving at the moment, I figured I'd toss this guy up before it goes to ebay, probably sometime this week.

260 shipped, offers welcome (they are set at 349.99 right now on mf.com). Comes in the original plastic case, with the clip and foam windscreen, works perfectly as I've used it all of 5 times

Eh... not worth it since i just bought 4 (And that would work out to about 45 bucks per MSH1, which is twice the price they cost at the moment new ) but thanks!

?????????? Seriously? Wow!!! Sorry to interject this into your sale thread, but if that's true it's incredible! I love my '81 BTW.

I don't know what it is - its just a very bassy mic, and since I record predominantly acoustic instruments, it looks like the '81 is headed out the door. If I am ever so inclined, I can find a pair on ebay for a little more than what I paid for this one new Didn't figure that one out until about ten minutes after I ordered mine from sweetwater

Also bare in mind that I am recording in a low quality space, with only decent instruments... the 81s may outperform when placed farther away, but it just isn't working for me, and the MSH-1's give ME a better result, for whatever that may mean to me... since I'm no pro, I could be completely wrong

OOOPS! It occurs to me that we may be selling more Naiants than Sm81's. But somebody always wants another '81. I'd take it if I had the dough. Good luck!

We're talking about a Shure SM-81 small diaphragm condenser microphone, right?

How are you micing your guitar with the '81?

Pointed at the neck joint, NOT at the sound hole. The overall sound isn't overly bassy, but the guitars I have are a bit wolfy on the lower Ab notes, and I don't seem to have the expertise to work with EQ to get rid of it without it being noticeable. The omnis work better, so off goes the SM81!

Those two microphones are kinda apples and oranges. The naiants are pressure omnis whereas the sm81 is a pressure-gradient cardioid.

...but i do dig the msh-1's on acoustic

Oh, I meant the SM81 might yield better results in a better acoustic space - not that it was a better mic overall... shoulda worded that better
