Mixer to Usb help needed

I purchased a Behringer XENYX 1222FX. I was under the impression that with this mixer i would be able to do some home studio work. It comes through the usb port and has a good sound the only problem is it gets mixed down all to one track. I thought it would come in under different tracks when i recorded, instead of a single track. Any advice on how to fix this or is it just the mixer i bought?

Most USB mixers do just that, output the main mix out the USB. The firewire mixers from alesis do infact transfer all the tracks indiviually over firewire, but not this one

gdavi1:

You can only record two simultaneous tracks with your setup.

You probably have two tracks recorded as a stereo WAV file. If you used the supplied/provided Audacity program to record, you can split the stereo WAV into two (L, R) mono wave files. Hard panning two channels (one full L, one full R) would allow you to record two separate channels/tracks at a time.

thank you, that actually helps more. I like to record drums with guitar going through a direct box an being able to split them, so the guitar can be a scratch track if needed really helps.
