Need Recording Equipment Advice

I'm getting tired os spending money each time I go into the studio to create or change something and want to start doing my own home recording.
Can anyon give me advice on which product would be the easiest for me to get started with.
Everyone keeps telling me to go with Protools or Reason... Also, any advice on MAC products.

If you can afford it, digidesign hardware/pro tools software is an excellent choice for your mac system.

how much can you afford is the question
if you are on a budget I would suggest using Kristal Audio Engine or Reaper there are a lot of Good Free VST plugins. You can use one of these new mixers that have a built in USB audio interface for multi track recording. the more you know about editing will determine the sound quality of the finished product. you just have to sit down with your program and play around with it to see how everything works


there are a lot of people making pro audio quality tracks with budget equipment
a good recording also depends on how tight your band is.

with all of the excellent Free or almost free recording software that is avalable on the internet It is hard for me to comprehend why someone would pay several hundred bucks for software for a home recording studio

Audacity excellent Freeware a bit more complicated but has a lot of excellent features.

Wavosoaur another excellent Audio Recording and editing software with lots of good features as well.

KAE another Excellent Freeware Audio Recording and editing program and probably one of the more simple formats.

Reaper probably the best but it is not Freeware however it is well worth the money spent.
there are others but these are the best ones IMO.

How about you asking this question somewhere other than the guitar forum. Just a thought, but you might not get a ton of replies with that question in this forum section.

lots of people are really excited about apple's logic pro 8.

John is right, you should ask this question in one of the other forums. Try computer recording and soundcards.

good luck. It's an expensive hobby/addiction. It's going to take you a lot of money and years to get the quality you get having an experienced engineer in a studio do the work for you.
