Cheap and Somewhat effective?

I'm going to be moving into a place where the house owner is crazy about putting up anything on the walls, and also I don't have much cash.

I was thinking I could set up in a corner, two 4 inch panels from ATS in a traingular shape with the mic's back facing the panels.

Would this help somewhat in recording vocals and acoustic guitar?

It would be better than nothing for sure. I would use a cardioid mic.
