120 watt Orange Amplifer
If me buys one of those 120 watt Orange Amplifier will I have to CRANK it to get the cool distortion sound? My 100 watt Marshall it be way too loud for practice cuz I have to be so loud to get the good distortion. Will I have the same problem with the Orange?

If your 100 watt Marshall is way too loud cranked, then even a 50 watter will still probably be too loud. Try out some amps that are more more in the 15W-30W range or maybe invest in a power attenuator. Heck even a 5 watter through a 4x12 can get pretty loud if headroom isn't a concern.

I can't help but ask where are you playing that the 100 watter is too loud? No question that it's loud as hell but I mean, if you're in your appartment and the neighbors get pissed at 100, then 50 is going to have johnny law at your door step just as well.
Not bashing the suggestiong of getting the smaller unit, definitely a step in the right direction. But I'm thinking...10-15 watts which again, in an apartment like setting is still PLENTY ![]() Consider a hot plate or an isolation solution.

The 100 watt is too loud for band practice in the basement. The neighbors don't complain, but our ears are fried.
It's not a problem at live shows. Thanks for the comments. I'll look into a Hot Plate, or a 50 or 30 watt amp. |
