Mini Washburn HB-155 review
I've been looking at Gibson 175s, 165s and even check out Epi clones.
I finally went with a Washburn HB-155 only had it 2 days now but what a guitar. I have a couple other Washburns a classical and a HB-30 which I have souped up extensively and use probably more than the 20 plus guitars I already have. That is why I was looking for a deep body acoustic. The 155 plays like butter, I've never had a guitar setup out of the box so perfectly. After a close inspection the finish and craftsmanship is excellent. The Bibsby actually works great, how ever it only lowers string tension. When I checked the insides out I thought the body had a slab running vertical across the length of the body but just under the arch top. I couldn't figure out how the body could be so vibrant with this type of set up. I stuck my finger through the F hole and found it was not a slab but only 2 braces kind of like what you find on a mandolin. This guitar has some of the richest tone I've ever heard in guitar. I'm not sure what they use for pickups but their extremely clean and quiet. I went to find a pic to post a link to one and found one going for peanuts at the moment on ebay for half of what I paid for mine. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=170169577560 They are a proto type or trade show model so there are only a few around so if your looking for a jazz or clean country type guitar you might want to check this out. |

oof, that's a pretty guitar. i don't like the clear plastic pick guard, but i assume it's easy to remove/replace?
i'm glad you've found a nice guitar ![]() Andrew.

Thanks, I thought plexiglass guard looked a little weird also.
It doesn't look that bad in person. It is a nice solid pick guard it rest on the outer pickup rings no buzzing. I think I'll get some pick guard material and trace the original and replace it with black, white, or pearl I'm sure it will look like crap once it get played a while. BTW: I purchased mine from a place in MN called Grand Central the one in the link looks like it has at least one blemish on the back of the headstock and for some reason doesn't look quite as thick as mine which 3.25 inches, probably just the photo angle. |

There was a link somewhere with the specs.
I know mine is plenty heavy probably the heaviest 6 string. The only other guitar I have that might be heavier is a Guild GAD 12 string and it has dual truss rods. I really think it is more of a sit down guitar. |

That's an awfully purdy git-fiddle. Nice score.
