this is when you dive into sampling drums. you can find tons of good sounds by just listenign to other forms of music, in fact you will find some of the best shit without even looking for it, just by listening to music. once you have said samples you can tweek them out to your hearts desire. thats just my opinion though

If thats all you have I'll have to say reason too. if you wanna record vocals you can get cubase SE and rewire Reason

Haven't had the chance to work with pro tools but i much prefer FL Studio over reason, I used to have reason 2.5 and threw it out for FL. You can do EVERYTHING with FL record instruments/vocals, mix, compose, master, link external boards, everything. It's an all in one, also comes with a built in encoder and everything. IMO its the best all around software for making music. All effects are done in real time which is another plus. You can shape or change the sound in any manor you want. Its great for mastering final mixdowns too, if you say a word a little too quiet on a verse, you can simply select that word from the waveform and add volume all in realtime. And it even comes with a frequency analyzer for mastering. I stand by FL 100% and wouldn't even consider anything else.
the bundled sample sounds that come with FL suck anus, their all compressed beyond hell using ogg a linux codec, if your serious about your music you'll do as I have and delete all the samples that come with it and use your own. The posibilites are endless. It's all up to what your imagination limits you. ![]()
