Unhappy To upgrade or not?

Ok, so I've gotten started with a Digi 001 and am making some good progress with tracking etc (my mixing needs a lot of work and I'm still working on room treatments). Although I'm a bass/guitar player I'm finding myself leaning more and more on the keyboard for sounds when working on stuff especially original songs.

I've stumbled across some software plugs that I'm really jonesing after but they're only compatiable with PT 7.3 (I'm using 6.4)

Do I upgrade to a Digi 002 or just stay where I am and look harder for the sounds I'm after?

Won't you pleeeaaase pleeeeaase help me?

ps, I should have a keyboard/midi for christmas (my wife is the BEST!!)

If you plan on using midi I would definitely upgrade. in 7.0 PT introduced instrument tracks which combine aux tracks with audio tracks to make working with midi a hell of a lot easier.

Yes, 6.4 leaves a bit to be desired in the MIDI department, I'm looking forward to an upgrade myself, though I'm already on the 002. You can get the 002 Rack for cheap, I got mine for a grand used in 2005, I expect they're cheaper now.

How much are you selling your 002 for?
I can only access ebay on w/ends and craiglist sellers I've looked at seem to use a lot of stock digi promo pics for their ads......when I email for "actual" pics of the unit the correspondence seems to end abrubtly.

Won't be for at least a year, I'm afraid...

I found mine on eBay a couple of years ago, barely used for a grand. Now this is the rack, not the standard 002 with the faders.

I'd avoid Craigslist for music gear unless they're in your hometown and you can meet them to inspect the product. No ratings system, harder to spot scammers. eBay's a bit more secure.

Bummer, I'm actually only looking at rack gear.

Sounds like good advice on the craiglist....I'll head to ebay over the w/end and see what's going on. I wish my employer would allow me access to ebay again
