Look at the Trick or Treat we got tonite!!!!

I was in the studio recording a vocal track and my mom was doing the candy thing. I go upstairs and she is on the phone calling the police...3 Trick or Treaters knocked on the door...she opened it and they threw a kitten inside and ran!!!!!

I can't have any critters. The worse part, is that he's all curled up in a ball in my left hand while I type with my right one!!...oh no..now he is on my shoulder....dammit!!! Rubbing his his little furry face on my cheek...ooops there he goes around the back of my neck...purring.

He is soooooo lovable!!! He is back in my hand all cozied up against my boobs purring away...

I need to find those little assholes and make em eat dirt!!!!

Well...the policeman just left with the kitty. Taking him to the vets. I hate to see him go, but I can't afford to care for him properly. Shots...nuturing...any other medical problems come up...and then I would feel guilty, cause I can't have my dogs here. Sorta like if you had to give your kids up and yet took in some other kids...I dunno. It was very hard for me. He slept on my chest, across my neck..in my hair...and purred most of the night. I hate this. The cop even waited as I schizioded my decision on him a zillion times...

Okay...so things didn't work out as planned. I called the police station and asked them to have the officer bring him back. He didn't have to do that, but he did...seems the little guy grew on him on the short trip to the vets...wrapped around his neck and stuff....

So...now I have a kitten. I need this responsibility, like I need another hole in my head.

But hey...he is the cutest little guy and lovable...just couldn't stand the thought of him being put down. When the officer brought him back, he said..."I think you just saved the little guy's life"...I named him Officer Jones.


So a happy Halloween Cat story!!!

It might be worth putting a few posters around saying he's been found incase he belonged to someone and the little fuckers took him.

Sometimes the local pound or ASPCA will offer free or cheap shots, and inexpensive nutering, although in the latter case they provide no pain medication after, which I think is pretty. The trick will be keeping it safe from the dogs until it is big enough to fend them off. Even the most cat friendly dogs can seriously injure a kitten by accident "playing" with them. (Which is why at my place we only adopt full grown kitties.) Please don't let them be together unsupervised and be careful even when you are there in the room with them. I recommend keeping the kitten away from the dog's food bowl entirely, as this often results in the cat getting hurt.

The cop said he would let me know if anyone reports to them or if the vet gets a call. I live in a relatively small town, so it is not hard to get the grapevine thing. I would be relieved to find he has a owner who loves and misses him. Then we would all be happy. In fact, the little culprits may come to light in this way also. You know they will have to brag about what they did!!!

Here the vet does not offer that type of *break* on procedures. He just built a big new facility a few years back and prices rose to match his need I suppose. I don't have any dogs here. My mom has a Tom cat the neighbors moved off and left a few years ago and he is my concern with the little guy. I live downstairs and she upstairs so keeping them apart won't be too bad...but accidents happen. SOmeone may come over and open a door without thinking.

Thanks Fiddler!! I don't have a bowser. I do, but not here. I love animals, just not prepared to raise another one...oh well, life does what it wants sometimes...and the truth is, I fell in love with him. We will manage...maybe I can teach him to play my grandson's drums, he seems to like so well....

Reminds me of this thread over at Gearslutz about an abandoned pet at the Humane Society that everybody was trying to save... happy ending too.

I haven't called yet to find out. I will let you know when I do. I know it was quite expensive several years back when I had critters and I would never intentionally get a critter because of that. But people kept dumping their animals at our house and I just couldn't shut my eyes to it. I HAD to feed them and give them a drink and a pet. They of course, did not leave. It was a mess though, because trying to take care of them the right way, got pretty difficult. Love is not always enough, when caring for animals. I have an intense hate for dumping critters. Not necessarily for the people who do it, but for the act itself. Many people think domesticated animals can fend for themselves ...hunt for food and find water sources and understand about cars and such...yah..there are people THAT ignorant in the world...well, I guess I do battle that hate feeling towards them too. There is one thing, they never seem to think of either. It is the people of which whom, come in contact with these animals and how it affects them too. Being distraught at what to do and then if you can't do it, YOU are the one who feels guilty and to blame for the fate of the animal. I don't like hating..although I am guilty of it, every time someone pulls this stunt of dumping their pet.

..You are welkom Dragon. I just couldn't let go of the little guy. He is a pain in the butt too. My arms, hand and chest look like a scratching post!!!...but he makes it up when he snuggles to sleep.

I noticed that with his eyes too. It is the reflection of the pink walls...wild looking, isn't it? He does look a lot like Auri.

Update on Officer Jones. I went shopping for him last night and he now has a proper litter box and a condo....some catnip toys and kitty wash towels.

He tore into the catnip toys!! Played in the condo, but still slept on me.

I bought Iams kitten food. He seems to like it ok. It has been so long since I've had a baby kitty. Should I leave the food out for his eating at will or make him feeding times? With my other cats, I always let them eat at will and it seemed to work out okay.

I have been kitty proofing my living area and it seems endless!!! I have taken the cord on the blinds and wrapped them on the top curtain rod and when I leave, I raise the blinds so he won't get entangled in them. The window in the living area is right next to the door and as I unlock the door, I look over and he is in the window looking at me, meowing.

I am going to start him out on baths soon, so he will be used to them. I have a couple of kids and grandkids who are sensitive to cat dander. I care for two of my youngest grandsons during the week in in the evenings, while momma goes to college classes. I want to keep things pleasant and safe and just hope they are not affected, allergy wise by the kitties presence.

I am contacting the Vet on Monday to make an appointment for Officer Jones.
