TheMan is on a distinguished road
If you are using VST plugin effects on a lot of tracks this will suck the CPU and you will suffer with jumpy playback. You can help this by 'locking' the effects onto that track by clicking- wait for it.... the 'lock' button on the multitrack channel. However, if you do this you will have to wait about four weeks for the session to initially load.
The best way to rectify this is to get a RAM upgrade, Gb+ will do it! :-)

alright thank you. i've been a cool edit user for over a decade. i know the locking feature.

unfortunately it's still not smooth at all. i have 10 tracks right now.

i already disabled the channel EQ and used a vst EQ before locking the tracks.

also, i have 2GB of ddr RAM.

i need some information on how to tweak the settings of windows and audition to complement my hardware.

pentium 4
2GB ram
IDE HD (7200 rpm)
windows xp
