Adat in on the Layla 2496

I'm going thru a process of trying to record(live) some of my bands on a Fostex vf160ex using a Behringer ADA8000 as an Adat input source for 8 extra inputs via the Adat out on the Behringer. I can get 16 tracks that way. With my new(old) Layla 2496, I'm wondering about taking the tracks from the Fostex and into my computer. The Fostex will let me burn 16 tracks as Wav files directly to CD, but the limit of the song size is the CD capacity.

That's the preamble: If I take the Adat out of the Fostex into the Layla does that disable the Layla's 1/4" line ins? If so, I'm guessing that I would have to dump twice: 8 tracks at a time. Having never used "wordclock" would this be the place where I'd need to set up something so that I can line-up the 2 "dumps" and which would be the master in this case? Fostex 16 tracks -to Layla Adat in- to software on computer.
Am I on the right track?
Thanks for reading this .

"If I take the Adat out of the Fostex into the Layla does that disable the Layla's 1/4" line ins?"

no, you can run both together.

what connections does the fostex have? does it have (8) 1/4" line outs? and adat in/out? wordclock in/out?

Adat in on the Layla 2496

Rats
After checking the manual of the Fostex VF160ex- I realized there are no word clock connections - only Midi I/O and the Adat optical I/O. Also, there are no line outs for monitoring. This is a "stand alone" machine designed to record and mix internally and then send a stereo out. It looks like I will have to do the "CD burn to .wav tracks" system. Thanks for answering the first question.
