The new POD X3

What do you guys think?

The only modeler I have right now is a V-Amp Pro which works pretty good for me. But the X3 has some interesting features like dual tone modeling. Lost of amp models too. Not to mention I can model a Neve pre for Vox. I'm not too convinced I want to do that though/

And for any tube amp purist's DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT respond to this thread with the typical rant about how modelers suck. I have 4 tube amps and love em. Modelers are handy tools for many....so keep the rant somewhere else please. EVERYBODY knows tube amps blow away modelers.

Not necessarily if you're a bassist like I..

I think I'm gonna give that a try, what if there is not a bass-edition?.. All my recorded bass-sounds this far are through a Vox Tonelab!!

It's Tonelab SE, or POD-x3... whatever the difference between bass and guitarmodeling/effects, I can't hear a difference.

I've got a digitech bass-modeler/effect that I tried ONCE, then recorded through tonelab.

No doubt the x3 will have interesting colorations in sound, even before a tube-amp.

I think it looks pretty cool...I don't need it, so probably won't be getting one. I need to play more first....

From the review I read the X3 features a mic preamp and enables you to process two signals seperately. If you're at an entry level to recording this would probably be a great tool.

I wonder if they've ever fixed that horrid noise that Mac users get when going Pod USB into the Mac? I have an XT and have to go line out into my Mac's audio input in order to bypass that noise. Others have had the same problem. It's like a zapping type of noise. If they fixed it, then I'd love to get a floor model. Looks pretty cool.

Don't know if that got fixed or not. You might go through the POD forums at the Line 6 site. Them POD heads over there might have an answer.

i have one. it sounds so much better than the xt, you wouldnt believe it. much better sonic range. with the dual amps, you can get sustain with alot of gain, but also alot of note clarity with low gain+compression on amp 2. it really is fuckin great.
