Great News!
We finally captured one of Darkly's feral kittens! She's huddled in the bathroom and tomorrow she sees the vet. One down, and three to go!
Pictures as soon as I get 'em. |

I heard her mewing loudly at 5 AM so I went in there to check on her.
She hissed so loudly that I jumped in the air! This is one fierce little kitty...a handful in both meanings of the word! |

The two I bought home, one for me and one for a friend were absolutely wild. I put the kitten in a spare bedroom and put some blankets and fed her a few times daily. Each time I fed her I used to just sit in the room for a while, while she just cowered in the corner. It took nearly 3 weeks for her to actually come over to me and then she would slowly venture out into the house for a sniff around. It took a few months for this kitten to become the most friendliest, affectionate cat I have ever had. My ex ended up taking her after I had her for about 2 years. I was amazed at the ferocity of this little kitten when I first bought her home and how she developed into a great little cat.

Gorty, thanks for the great story! It definitely helped cheer up my wife, who has to listen to all this cat-erwauling while trying to fall asleep...

Sometimes a little radio playing very soft in volume may comfort the kitten at night. I have heard it comforts them having some voices, music etc even if they are wild. Just a suggestion.

That's a cool idea. I remembered the old trick of putting a clock next to them, but none of our digital clocks could comfort the poor little thing. She's so upset, now she's barking!
