what does this mean?

Do you have external USB or firewire drives? I've seen this problem with people trying to mount a drive while PT is up and running.

Yeah I do have an external Hard Drive.

are you powering it on before you power on the computer? (and before you power on Pro Tools?)

I also have an external hard drive. What should be turned on first: the computer or external hard drive?

drive. So the computer can start up and see/initialize the drive
