New Amp, need help

Now before i go to guitar center, i'd like a list of amps to try out..sooo, im looking for amps to try out that are up to 700 bucks new. I know, ebay has great ones used, but lets say i wanna go new..I have the spider valve, flextone, peavey valveking, b52 212 amp...its for ambient rock with some pretty good distortion. Circa Survive/alternative/Coheed and Cambria type stuff. And if i was gonna go used, i'd probably go for a DSL combo if you guys think i could find one under 700.

well a buddy of mine owns one and seems to like it for almost everything he records.... and i guess i'm a little prejudiced as another buddy designed the amp but the little class A crates are a real steal IMHO... especially the 32 wt one...

I dont belive you could find a DSL under 700... they are pretty pricey. Maybe used on ebay but I doubt it.
If your down with a heavy sound the crates do nicely. The solid states are just monster metal amps no matter what anybody says.
like the flexwaves
My personal preference is these wonderful babies
Vox valvetronix
I truely belive these have a huge array of quality sounds for anybodies tastes. And with a footswitch you cannot go wrong.

(sorry i havent made 5 posts so i cant put up urls...DOH!

I know both series, and i dont like crates by any means. I might consider their tube amps, the blue voodoos, but thats even a stretch. With my next amp im either going tube or really good modeling(flextone), because i played the flextone and really liked it and its versatility. However i played some tube amps and the sound coming out just sounding a bit more real..so im at a cross road.

don't quite know what your styling is, and you have a Peavey...but I have this Peavey Delta Blues 30wt tube with a 15" speaker, and I've been offered trades, people want to buy it, etc but I like it too ha, I heard they don't make it any more?? I think they do...its under 700 new. You might let one warm up and give it a try.

I don't have much experience with new amps, But this is my view. Find an amp that gives you a tone you LOVE. Only you can decide what great tone means to you. Tone is the guitar and amp together. Use your own guitar(s) to try out amps.

Get pedals for versatility. That way when you want a different sound you only have to change a module. If the effects are built in I will like some of them but not like others.

That Delta Blues is one sweet amp! I grabbed a Valve King 212 just cuz I needed the volume for outdoor gigs at the time. The Delta is one great amp at that price point!

I'm not sure how well-represented Traynor YCV amps are at Guitar Center, but give one a try if you see one there. Not so great on the clean channel but they have a great blues/rock/hard rock distortion.
