My Friend Ting

He's the little cat who belonged to the old lady across the driveway who passed away....
....I've been taking care of him for almost a year, but Newman is three times his size, and bullies him, so he's stayed outdoors...
...today he wandered into the house (I locked up Newman in the bedroom)....and hung out with me for a couple of hours of petting, feeding, and even a little nap!
He is one cool little dude....

I actually took those shots yesterday....
....and when I opened the door this morning, he walked right in, hopped up on a chair and started washing himself....

...he came with the name, BTW - he was named for an older man who had been a good neighbor to the old lady....

his whiskers and eyes kind of make him look like a "master ting" or something-- like he could share some ancient wisdom with you and then do some sick kung fu

Hmm...he was something interesting, that's for sure. I think maybe part American Indian. Is that a common Filipino nickname or something?

Ting has a Maynerd thing going on, but more of a TCP palette of colors.

Maynerd was the gray kitty that I suspect was TCP's dad.

He belonged to everybody in the neighborhood and was one easy-going meow.

Although I called him Maynerd, his other main crashpad curator called him, "Antsy".

He is etched into my memory because of his visits; mainly his last. Shortly after TCP was born he came sniffing around the place. I opened up the door and Megabite jumps his ass. I intervened and Megabite sank her teeth into ME.

Maynerd is not the, "eat his own young" kind of guy but that is probably what Megabite believed. Maynerd took off like that guy in the Lynyrd Skynyrd tune, "Gimme Three Steps".

....we have a pattern now....

....at a certain hour of the morning, Ting comes to the door, and announces that he's ready to come in....I close the door to the bedroom (where Newman is sleeping off breakfast), and let Ting inside,where he washes up, explores, hangs out and naps a bit while I get ready for work....
....then he goes back outside, and Newman is released .....

So far so good - and I even let him into the room with Newman while I was there, and he's getting a little mellower about the idea, so I think I officially have another cat now...
