How to get rid of cats
I have just moved into a new house and I am having problems with my neighbors’ cats. I am surrounded with cats, both neighbors on either side have two, two neighbors across the street each have two not to mention down the street there must be a least 4 or 5 more. They dig up the flower beds and most importantly; my wife feeds birds and the local cats are now starting to hang around the feeders in my back yard. I do not want to hurt these animals I just don’t want them in my yard. I have talked to my neighbors and as far as they are concerned it is only natural for cats to roam and to kill birds. If any of you have any suggestions about how to deter these animals I would appreciate it.

Once outside, they are wild animals, just like the birds you speak of. So in reality, it's no more likely that you can stop cats roaming than you can birds.
The best you can do is chase them off over and over till they get pissed off and don't come back. Or, as someone suggested in another thread, lay chicken wire down. Cats hate the stuff.

It's sort of like asking how do I get rid of ants or roaches when I have food and water laid out for them, isn't it?
Get some cat food and lay it out there for Sylvester. He will leave the other shit alone and chow down. |

Squirt them with the hose enough and they won't venture into your yard too much!
I love cats, but cat's aren't lovers of water. One of my cats is a wanderer, every now and then he comes home a little wet. It makes me mad but....I'd rather he come home wet than not come home at all.

Piss in a 5 gallon bucket for a while, and save it.
Then go pour that all around your yard - thereby marking your territory. It worked for me with getting rid of some dogs that kept coming around, so I don't see why it wouldn't work for you and cats. Hell, get everybody to piss in the bucket you fill it up in no time. And your kids will have fond memories to think of when you are gone. Hell, blame the idea on me - and I'll be a famous part of your family history. ![]() Future generations will say,"It was in 2007 that Tim Brown told your great-great-grandpa to piss in a bucket and pour it in the yard!" ![]() Tim |

You could also go and buy a bunch of cayenne pepper and spread that all around your yard. they will smell it and stay the hell away.

Yeah my cat is nuts. Anything you pick up, he assumes is a toy for him.
