help regarding a 70's soindcraft 200 series

o.k, first of all, I'm a bass player without almost any knoledge about sound engeniring so pardon my "bad languge"...

my band got a vintage soundcraft. a freind of mine who owns a rehersal room told me that the XLR connections in the old soundcrafts were waiered diffrently...he told me that the "hot" leg (or "hot" pin) should be pin no.1 insted of no.2

is it true?someone knows somthing about this stuff?

pin 2 hot, pin 3 cold, pin 1 shield is the standard. I don't know how an old 200 would be wired.

If it's for a band rehearsal room, it won't make any difference anyway.

A lot of the older Soundcrafts and Allen Heaths are pin 3 hot. This means that pin 3 will be hot, pin 2 cold, and pin 1 shield. This is especially important to know if you are using the outputs. I would head over to Soundcrafts website and try and find a manual.

FWIW, I've got some kind of 70's S200 Soundcraft board and haven't had to worry about wiring.

Haven't had to worry about? Or are not aware of? Those can be two completely different things.
