devin townsend sounds?

does anyone know how devin townsend gets his guitar sound with lots of delay ?

it sounds really cool, the delay sounds like a synth pad underneath the guitar sound but it doesn't sound all muddy.

I'm sure there is a fair amount of delay with some compression and good eq adjustment.

any ideas on how he does it?

Probably a fair amount of delay with some compression and a good eq adjustment.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I don't know the particular sound you're talking about, but I know that Heavy Devy is notorious for layering guitars to the point of absurdity.

It's kind of like if t-shirt guy got into recording guitars....

i guess i meant to ask about particular Delay, EQ and compression settings lol

songs like:
seventh wave- Devin Downsend Band
away- Devin Downsend Band
canada- Devin Downsend Band
hyperdrive -Ziltoid The Omniscient

obviously i'm not looking for specific setting, just a rough idea on how to get there.

it sounds to me sometimes like he could be using guitar amp plugins.. I could be wrong though.
