That is too cool for school. Don't tell me you two have wild cats!? Where was this picture taken? Is that cat dangerous?

I'm curious to know how one can own a cat like this?

Let's see...no, upstate, probably not, in your dreams.

OK, the long answer: for my youngest son's 9th birthday, we took him to this cool place and made a special arrangement to go inside a few cages (they don't let you in with the tigers no matter how hard you beg).

I have more pix with some other animals if anyone is interested.

I have a story for you. We went to a zoo about 6 months after my son was born. In the gorilla exhibit was a baby gorilla born the same day,same year as my son, and the mother gorilla was holding it.

She was holding him way in the back. So just joking around I started beating my chest and she looked at me and grabbed a vine and swung over to put her baby up the the plexiglass to show me. I guess I speak pretty good gorilla.

I must admit I've never been fond of domestic cats, but I do think lynxes are adorable.

Since this seems to be the current big cat thread, I hope no-one minds if I present two pictures of a cheetah from the South Lakes wild animal park in Barrow:

Pretty much. The cat (who belonged to my grandmother) was getting on in years and somewhat ill-tempered. I crawled under the table on a whim as 5-year-olds are wont to do, but what I hadn't considered was that the cat was lurking there herself. So when I blundered in there, she went ballistic and sliced my finger open.

Cats are cool, dude. They just want to play when they want to play, and want to be left alone when they want to be left alone.

We are in their world. Humans have a difficult time understanding the level of conceit that the feline has, bieng guilty of the same crime.
