Just Another Night
For awhile now, I've been postulating that our cats have been helping us deal with negative energy, nightmares, upsetness, and the like. OK, Friday night there was a big blowup in the Dragon Cave, and it really bothered me. I went to sleep and woke up in the middle of the night to heart-rending screams...from myself!
It seems that Jennifur had been tearing around the room and once in awhile making pit stops to shred my legs. Then she started working on my wife. She hasn't done anything remotely like this in years. Finally Susan got hold of herself and asked Jennifur to stop. She calmed down and jumped on our bed. Then Susan asked her to apologize. Jenni instantly walked up my body, stood on my chest, and bent her head down to my lips. I kissed her and forgave her. |

I used to wake up and have them sit on my head like a hat.

One of our cats will wait until we are in bed and then start almost on cue to try and push all the cedar blind slats out of our French Doors. I see him sitting there waiting for me to turn the lights off and then he is in to it!
![]() He does the same running around and makes as much banging/scratching noises as he can, usually around 5:30am everyday to get me up!! ![]() He's a mongrel but I love him! ![]()

You made a statement last week that said something like you didn't understand the concept of an online persona. This is a fine example of why they're convenient. It makes it easier to seperate what really matters. IMO, anything that happens online doesn't really matter. This place is awesome, I can get valuable recording advice, give moderately valuable recording advice, and have social interaction with other humans without the uncomfortable position of having to ask them to leave when I am finished interacting with them. I am ALWAYS finished with human interaction before the people I am interacting with, and it sucks when they're at my house. |

I would leave the cave at the cave though in the same way its not good to take your work home with you. ![]() I am very close to this cat. When she had kittens she came and woke me up and told me it was time and then she went to the little nursery bed I made her. She is a good mother.

im similar to you in letting things get to me sometimes. overly sensitive. means youre also a caring individual. invest a lot of emotional energy into things. just like other emotions, this can be both good an bad. as sillybee said your a good person and dont let anybody tell you different. we are all works in progress and dealing with problems is just another area of life that we try to learn from the past. im learning to ignore things negative and when i fall into a negative situation... step back ..breathe and realize its not worth your small time on the earth. your family, mental health, and pets are much more important than dealing with a few clowns in a virtual hangout Last edited by JMarcomb; 09-09-2007 at 23:59.. |

My first instinct is to say that animals don't communicate. Obviously.
OTH, there's a duck pond at my work. It's next to the main road through that part of campus. On the other side of the road, there's a a lawn area that the ducks use to pick worms out of the dirt. In every instance, the big male duck will cross the road, then head back. He'll(not any one male, all males) wil stop in the middle of the road, look both ways, then finish heading back to where he started. He then ushers the female and babies across the road. When he reaches the middle of the road again, he waits for his posse to all get across the road, and he walks behind to make sure everyone crosses safely. ![]() The students, every one of them adults(it's a university), exit the classroom buildings, start dialing their phones and lighting cigarettes and immediately head straight across the road without even acknowledging a road exists. ![]() Yes, I am saying ducks are smarter than college aged humans. |

I'll keep the camera with me and get a pic. I won't be able to hang out by the duck pond all day, so it's going to be awhile.

There's also a pair of young red-tailed hawks that have recently left the nest. One will sit atop a pole or tree or something, and the other in another a few hundred yards away. They screetch at each other all day long and take turns swooping down on invisible pray. They're practicing their hunting skills before they're on their own for good.
I love babies, too. Just NOT human babies. ![]() |
